Slumbering winter
April’s sun wakes the new year
Life blooms, life restores
A haiku is a type of poem, written with 3 lines, and 17 syllables (5,7,5) of words that don’t rhyme.
This haiku captures the essence of the true beginning of the year being in Spring. Not tied to the calendar, but to the natural awakening that occurs when the sun returns and life flourishes again. The imagery evokes a sense of anticipation and joy as the world emerges from it’s winter slumber, embracing the vitality and promise of a new cycle.
